Mental Health

Early intervention is key. We have a vital role to play in supporting children’s mental health — teaching the skills they need to recognise and manage their emotions.

Our Approach

Supporting children's mental wellbeing

Here at Blue Sky Learning we create a safe and calm environment where mental health problems are effectively addressed through play, activities and Thrive sessions. This helps to build pupils’ resilience so they can manage the normal stress of life effectively.

Our sessions include baking, art therapy, outdoor games, blowing bubbles and crafts. By encouraging fun and calmness, children often feel comfortable opening up — getting to the root of the problem.

Risk Factors

Mental health can be affected by many factors. These are some of the risk areas we recognise and respond to:

!

The child’s individual characteristics (temperament, communication difficulties, learning disability)

!

Being exposed to traumatic experiences (abuse, domestic violence, bullying)

!

Changes in relationships within families or friends (divorce, separation, bereavement)

!

Broader societal factors (discrimination, poverty)
